SANSKRIT/Hindi: what’s your opinion of this ancient language; studied it? write in it? speak it?
I”m a yogi, and have been for many years. In the pursuit of its practice, I naturally came across Sanskrit quite some time ago.
Its discovery piqued my interest, and so I begin the study of it; at first, wondering why anyone would do so, because of the inherent difficulty such an undertaking involved?
I soon learned that it is by far the most elaborate, intricate language of all the Indo-European family of languages. It was unbelivebly difficult to comprehend, write – or rather to script – let alone, try to speak or pronounce.
And that yogis pursue its study and practice, usually only to utilize it for chanting.
I only studied it for little more than a year. But have found that its implementation in the chanting of Patanjali’s yoga sutras as a part of my daily yoga regimine, opened metaphysical doors to a transcendant realm I was unawares existed.

Well, I’ve learnt quite a bit of Hindi and even managed to get conversational in Kannada, over the past few years since I got my Outsourced Office at Bangalore, India.
Sanskrit was really fascinating, though rather intricate and difficult; but, if you’ve studied Latin, you’d notice there are many similarities there; even though Latin is much simpler than Sanskrit.
I haven’t tried Yoga, though, except for some basics like the padmasana and the surya namaskar.
The reason I studied Sanskrit is that I found Vedic Hinduism quite fascinating.
