Costa Rica vacations?
Where is a nice place to visit in Costa Rica? I’d love a nice small resort or retreat that includes yoga and would love to be able to see some of the country.
Costa Rica is a great country to travel around on a road trip. If you can afford it I recommend a 4wd, if not you wont miss that much but will certainly have to drive a lot slower in many areas as many roads are dirt and have big potholes.
I ve only ever been to one Yoga resort in CR. Found it by accident as thats were the the road ends on the SW conor of the Osa peninsula, its paradise heres their web site V http://www.lunalodge.com/
but if you do a search for Yoga in Costa Rica there are tons of others that look great as well, and the South is nowhere near as interesting as the middle north and the Nicoya Penisula in the NW.
If its your first trip, I would recommend you leave San Jose immediately and head north and visit the local volcanos. Then go to Fontana which is a touristy town at the base of Volcan Arenal.
Its active and you can see it light up at night but its often cloudy so its hit or miss if you stay in Fontana. There are two hotels right at the base where you are almost certain of seeig the nightly light show but they are a little pricey and will need a 4wd to get there or park your car in Fontana and they can pick you up.
From there drive around lake Arenal quite pretty and have lunch in Tilaran, a picturesque old city on you way to the Nicoya penisula-There are plenty of Yoga resorts on the Nicoya, and tons of beach resort areas from 5 Star to hippiesque. Tons of water sports etc there, but just so you know its more tropical desert like than the mountian you will have traveled throught get there but great fun. On the way back take the route from Canas through Monteverde otherwise know as the cloud forest. There is an amzing stretch of road for about 40 miles that twist and turn on the side of a mountain where there will a full rainbow if not a double that looks to be 100 feet in front of you… but you can never catch, every turn a new one comes into view, its jsut incredible.
Have fun!

The text is divided into three sections. Each section has a philosophical basis for the inclusion of the subsequent principles and practices. The first section covers major types of resorts: those that are mountain-based, beach-based and golf/tennis based. Two chapters are devoted to each of the various resort types. The first chapters of each resort type focuses on development issues with the impact on operations noted throughout. The second chapter in each resort type deals with guest profiles and management issues. The second section highlights what makes managing a resort different from managing a `regular` hotel.
