
how do you get into yoga? relaxation?
i am interested in taking up yoga, but i am not sure where to start or it is for me. i want to learn to relax and tone my body. i don’t know how do get into the yoga mind frame and am curious to know how to get there.
or if you have any other alternatives for relaxation, please let me know.
i always feel tense. even when i go get a masseage, i cannot completely relax because my thoughts are running a mile a minute!
dude, i don’t have much perspective on yoga as i haven’t done for extended periods of time. however, my intrepretation is that it is good for toning you muscles, strengthening you muscles and balancing the strength in your muscles b/c it isolates your muscle groups versus say weight training were you sometimes compensate for a weak muscle by pushing harder with a stronger muscle in that muscle group. it is great for stretching and i love the way i don’t feel tight in my legs, back and shoulders when i do yoga. as for your mind racing, i don’t if it is just me and i don’t intend to generalize but for many years i suffered with a mind that would not settle down and was always racing wether i was doing yoga, working out, mediatating, praying, walking, running, smoking weed, nothing i tried helped, until i visited a therapist. not saying you need to but you might consider an ADD test. good luck with whatever is successful but not being able to control you thoughts sucks.
