How can I make nail clipping less of a nightmare for my rabbit?
I’ve had my bun for 11 months now with no set schduele as to how often I should clip her nails. Handling her paws have become progressively more of a problem. I’ll usually lure her with some vegetables when I want to get the job done. She’ll be placed on a Yoga Mat so she’s comfortable (all four paws on the floor), with a family member positioned behind her should restraint be required. It was never much more of a horrible ordeal than it is now. She’d never freak out but now that she’s aware of the routine she’ll struggle, kick and scratch in the process. Suggestions as to how I can make it stress free on her part?
It is a lot easier to flip the rabbit and hold it with the rabbits head securly like touching your elbow and you holding the bunny against your stomach It may require 2 people too do this but I can do it my self. Like you may need the other person to spred the paw while your trimming the nails
Another way is to sit on a couch or something and flip them and lay them on your lap and just trim them..
Rabbits become temeralrly peralized when there layed upside down so it is painless…
I would say maybe every 1-2 months you should cut there nails.
