Hatha yoga (Sanskrit हठयोग haṭhayoga, also called hatha vidya (हठविद्या), is a system of yoga introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a sage of 15th century India, and compiler of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. In this treatise Swatmarama introduces hatha yoga as preparatory stage of physical purification that the body practices for higher meditation. The asanas and pranayama in raja yoga were what the Hindu yogis used to physically train their body for long periods of meditation. This practice is called shatkarma.
The word hatha is a compound of the words ha and tha meaning sun and moon, referring to prana and apana, and also to the principal nadis (energy channels) of the subtle body that must be fully operational to attain a state of dhyana or samādhi. According to the Monier-Williams Sanskrit Dictionary, the word “hatha” means forceful. It is a strong practice done for purification. In other respects hatha yoga follows the same principles as the raja yoga of Patanjali. Hatha yoga is what most people in the Western world associate with the word “yoga” and is most commonly practiced for mental and physical health.
So basically Hatha Yaga is just another type of Pranayam.

Rāja Yoga (“royal yoga”, “royal union”, also known as Classical Yoga) is concerned principally with the cultivation of the mind using meditation (dhyana) to further one’s acquaintance with reality and finally achieve liberation.
Raja yoga was first described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and is part of the Samkhya tradition.
In the context of Hindu philosophy Raja Yoga is known simply as yoga. Yoga is one of the six orthodox (astika) schools of Hindu philosophy.
Lord Krsna describes the yogi as follows: “A yogi is greater than the ascetic, greater than the empiricist, and greater than the fruitive worker. Therefore, O Arjuna, in all circumstances be a yogi” (Bg. 6.46). There are many types of yoga, such as hatha-yoga, astanga-yoga, raja-yoga, dhyana-yoga, and bhakti-yoga. Rudimentary hatha-yoga has become very popular as a form of exercise and relaxation, but real yoga — as taught by Patanjali in his Yoga-sutra or by Krsna in the Sixth Chapter of Bhagavad-gita — is an eightfold system of meditation for attaining samadhi, or complete absorption of the mind in the Supreme. The eightfold yoga process is very difficult to perform, and even Arjuna decided it was too difficult for him. And those few who can practice it often become captivated by the siddhis, or perfections, that one can gain through this yoga, such as the ability to walk on water, become extremely small, and control other people’s minds. So the mystic yoga process, being very difficult and full of many possible distractions, is not recommended in this age.

Raja Yoga is a complete meditation, where is Hatha Yoga is physical exercise of breathing, Raja Yaga is not easy for everyone to do but Hatha Yaga is possible to accomplish.
