Hatha Yoga Facts

hatha yoga facts
What is the best excercise methodology, and why (Please list credible sources for your reasoning)?

I’ve been a weightlifter for 19 years. I’ve always been an avid swimmer and cyclist, I’ve studied martial arts intensely, and I’ve practiced Hatha Yoga since ’94… But personally, I find resistance (weight) training as the superior exercise methodology. My reason for this is because maintaining consistent, multilateral tension on the skeletal structure keeps bone very healthy, and it’s great to off-set degenerative effects of aging. I also believe it was a very effective component in my rapid recovery from a serious motorcycle accident that put me into a coma, and required physical therapy to learn movements again because the adaptive response to weight training conduces rapid recovery. I attribute the speed of relearning movement to the fact that I was redeveloping preexistent cognitrons. I believe that, although there are many good methods, weightlifting is the best in developing all around fitness. Consensus?

I believe the best exercise is the one you can stick with. any exercise is better than none at all. if you try to do an exercise regime, but don’t like doing the exercises, you’re more likely to stop. everyone should do whatever exercises they enjoy and will do regularly. weight lifting is one of them, but not necessarily the best for everyone.

HATHA YOGA: THE HIDDEN LANGUAGE takes the study and practice of hatha yoga far beyond a series of physical exercises. Building on the classical foundations of an ancient tradition, Swami Radha brilliantly synthesizes the ancient wisdom of yoga with an understanding of psychological and spiritual facets of contemporary life. Working with metaphor and symbolism, imagery and visualization, Swami Radha guides students toward a richer understanding not only of Hatha Yoga, but also of their purpose in life. With this approach, one can penetrate the mystical messages of the asanas so that the body is truly understood as a spiritual tool.
